چکیده
We studied the artificial incubation method of red swamp crayfish Procambarus clarkii embryos using cell culture plates. In first experiment, cleavage stage or egg-nauplius were individually cultured at 20°C in well plates with different water volumes per [12 (4 ml), 24 (2 48 (1 ml) and 96 (0.25 ml)]. second 12-well 15, 20 25°C. Almost all died without hatching. Egg-nauplius survived to hatch. 96-well plates, embryo hatched, but instar juveniles soon. other mortality tended increase decreasing volume; particularly, high was recorded 48-well Hatching moulting rates 15°C 20°C, approximately half concluded that a plate ml well) is suitable for incubating P. hatch moult 15–20°C.

Testing Phylogenetic Hypotheses of the Subgenera of the Freshwater Crayfish Genus Cambarus (Decapoda: Cambaridae)
BACKGROUND The genus Cambarus is one of three most species rich crayfish genera in the Northern Hemisphere. The genus has its center of diversity in the Southern Appalachians of the United States and has been divided into 12 subgenera. Using Cambarus we test the correspondence of subgeneric designations based on morphology used in traditional crayfish taxonomy to the underlying evolutionary his...
متن کاملArtificial water points for wildlife management facilitate the spread of red swamp crayfish (Procambarus clarkii)
The red swamp crayfish (Procambarus clarkii) has been widely introduced into aquatic systems all around the world, triggering multiple impacts. In Doñana Natural Area, Abalario and the Biological Reserve of Doñana, Spain (one of the most important biodiversity reserves in Europe), the red swamp crayfish was first introduced in 1974 and expanded its range quickly through marsh habitat, but distr...
متن کاملComparative Ultrastructure and Carbohydrate Composition of Gastroliths from Astacidae, Cambaridae and Parastacidae Freshwater Crayfish (Crustacea, Decapoda)
Crustaceans have to cyclically replace their rigid exoskeleton in order to grow. Most of them harden this skeleton by a calcification process. Some decapods (land crabs, lobsters and crayfish) elaborate calcium storage structures as a reservoir of calcium ions in their stomach wall, as so-called gastroliths. For a better understanding of the cyclic elaboration of these calcium deposits, we stud...
متن کاملMitotic karyotype of the tropical freshwater crayfish Procambarus (Austrocambarus) llamasi (Decapoda: Cambaridae).
In Mexico, the biology of Procambarus has been more studied than the biology of other Cambarids because of its diversity and potential use in aquaculture. We determined the karyotype of the Mexican tropical freshwater crayfish Procambarus (Austrocambarus) llamasi from 189 metaphase spreads from gill tissues of 17 adults. They had 98-120 chromosomes (mode 2n=120 chromosomes). There are 60 pairs ...
متن کاملEffect of starvation on growth, histology and ultrastructure of digestive system of juvenile red swamp crayfish (Procambarus clarkii Girard)
The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of 20 d starvation on growth, survival, histomorphology and ultrastructure changes in the digestive system of juvenile red swamp crayfish (Procambarus clarkii). Juveniles were divided into two groups: a food-deprived group and a control group at 9 day after hatch (DAH). Individuals were sampled at 14, 20, 29 DAH. During the 20 d fasting per...
